About The Dark West
The Dark West is an occult western Action RPG that challenges both your skill and sanity. Set in the late 19th century the world has already begun to rot from the inside out. Greed-driven mining cracked open something ancient beneath the Earth, unleashing corruption, dark deities, and abominations across the territories. In Mercy's End, factions wage war in the ruins of civilization from forbidden sources through blood rites, occult rituals, and brands carved into flesh. Some call it purification; others call it truth. Both leave devastation in their wake. Each system in the Dark West is derived from the frontier itself. You are not the savior. You are simply another soul - a Witness - trying to survive a dying world where luck matters as much as faith, power always comes at a cost, and every step is a gamble in the all consuming darkness. Intentional Combat Built Around Risk & Power Combat in The Dark West is lethal, impactful, and driven by positioning, timing, reload management, movement, and aggression. Unload revolvers, rifles, shotguns, curses, holy fire, and occult rituals against swarms of enemies using devastating Projectile Behaviors like Pierce, Chain, Fork, Cascade, Barrage, Return, and Nova. Transform combat with Specialized Ammunition such as Lucky rounds that guarantee devastating Critical Strikes or brutal Stampede shells that rip through enemies and erupt into showers of blood and splintered bone. Inflict debilitating status effect like Bleeding, Burning, Decay, Overkill, Double Damage and Explode while surviving encounters designed around pressure, enemy density, and mechanical mastery. Deep Character Builds & Coveted Loot Master Skill Trees, Active & Passive Abilities, Talents, and other build-defining modifiers obtained from unearthing powerful loot or augmenting deadly items through Runestones. Create powerful synergies through Critical builds, Curse scaling, Projectile mechanics, Resistance stacking, Ammo manipulation, and Specialized loot interactions designed for deep long-term progression and replayability. Every Character Class features its own, distinct combat identity and progression path with unique Skills, Notables, Talents and Resources, allowing radically different playstyles across the frontier. Hunt for rare weapons, cards, occult relics, class-unique items, and other powerful combinations capable of reshaping your entire build. You could even form sets of cards that grant your character thematic bonuses. A Frontier Consumed by Horrors Explore cursed frontier settlements, abandoned mines, ritual grounds, ghost towns, corrupted forests, and wilderness overtaken by atrocities. Face grotesque Buffalich abominations, Harrow scavengers, cursed Desperados, and occult Witches. Seek out high-intensity encounters, such as a monstrous beast once resembling a man, and the ultimate, optional challenge of Trauma Bosses, hidden throughout the lands surrounding Mercy’s End. Accept contracts from the Bounty Board, ride Ghost Trains through the wasteland, survive Malefic Shrines, and Ritual Encounters. Discover wandering Caravans and Vendors, side with The Order, Damned, or neither, and uncover a world built around risk-versus-reward gameplay.
